About Trail Scout
We're offroaders, hikers, and overlanders building the digital guides we wished existed.
Why We Built This
Every trip starts with the same problem: hours of research scattered across forums, YouTube videos, and random Reddit threads. Where's the best route? What gear do I actually need? What's the terrain really like?
We got tired of piecing it together every time. So we started building the resources we wished someone had handed us before our first trail run.
Trail Scout is a collection of digital trail guides, gear checklists, vehicle build guides, and trip planning templates — all designed to cut your planning time in half so you spend more time on the trail.
What We Believe
- The best gear list is the one you actually use. Our checklists are practical, not aspirational.
- Every trail is different. Our guides are specific — not generic "top 10" listicles.
- You don't need a $80k build to get out there. We include budget options in every guide.
- Leave No Trace isn't optional. Every guide includes responsible trail use reminders.
Who's Behind This
Trail Scout is built by Tanner Smith — a sports performance coach, video editor, and outdoor enthusiast based in the US. When he's not coaching athletes or building hype reels, he's on a trail somewhere figuring out if his rig can make it through that next section.
